Interview answer
Docker packages application files, user-space dependencies, and runtime configuration into an image and creates isolated containers from it. Cloud computing provides provider-operated infrastructure and managed services on demand. They often meet when CI builds a Java image, a registry stores its digest, and a cloud container service runs it with production configuration.
For example, I can build and test an order-service image locally, push it, and deploy that exact digest to a managed container platform connected to a database and queue. The image reduces differences in the application runtime, while the cloud supplies capacity and services.
Neither tool removes engineering work. Containers share a hosting kernel and still depend on data, network, secrets, and platform architecture. Cloud scaling and availability must be configured and tested, and cost follows many meters. Learning them early is valuable because they are common delivery concepts—not because every backend role uses Docker or every application belongs in a cloud.
Docker & Cloud Fundamentals
Direct Answer
Docker packages an application's user-space filesystem and runtime configuration as an image and runs isolated containers from it. Cloud computing provides on-demand infrastructure and managed services through provider APIs. A fresher benefits from knowing both because many backend teams use containers and cloud services—but neither is universal, and they do not eliminate environment, security, or operations work.

Answer these without looking back at the article.
- What does a Docker container package that a bare app does not, and what problem does that solve?
- Why does the same Docker image run on a laptop and in production without changes?
- What is the cloud's shared-responsibility model, and what are you responsible for?
- Why is a container lighter than a VM, and what's the security trade-off?
- Why should a fresher learn Docker and the cloud early rather than 'later when senior'?
